Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist in Charge, the Staff Pharmacist's primary responsibilities are to:
- Evaluate and interpret orders, and dispense medications according to written orders/prescriptions issued by authorized prescribers
- Identify, prevent, assess, and resolve medication-related problems to ensure a safe and optimal patient outcome
- Promote, through criteria-based protocols, clinically rational drug therapy and sound pharmaceutical care
Qualifications
- Pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD) from an accredited school of pharmacy
- Pharmacist license in good standing in the State of Maine
- Immunization Certification through an accredited organization
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to document in a clear, concise, and legal fashion with appropriate grammar and word usage
- Ability to effectively communicate, verbally & in writing, with all levels of staff and patients
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with various members of health care teams, physicians, and staff
- Ability to exercise sound professional judgement, set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergency requests
- Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule
- Possess high standards for accuracy and for work performed
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and pharmacy software
Physical Requirements
- Requires standing for prolonged periods of time with occasional walking short distances
- Frequent/continuous reaching, grasping, lifting, and carrying up to 20 lbs. at or below waist level and at or above shoulder level
- See objects at close vision and be able to identify and distinguish colors
- Requires good motor coordination with good manual and finger dexterity. Must pick and pinch small tablets with fingers and seize, hold, grasp, and turn objects
