We need a Staff Pharmacist for our retail pharmacy in Auburn for two 8-hour shifts weekly, 8a-6p, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until at least Jan 2024.

Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist in Charge, the Staff Pharmacist's primary responsibilities are to:

  • Evaluate and interpret orders, and dispense medications according to written orders/prescriptions issued by authorized prescribers
  • Identify, prevent, assess, and resolve medication-related problems to ensure a safe and optimal patient outcome
  • Promote, through criteria-based protocols, clinically rational drug therapy and sound pharmaceutical care

The consulting will come a little later, after they are trained as a staff pharmacist, but will be ongoing part-time. In other words the role will be split part-time staff pharmacist and part-time consulting all thru the long-term care pharmacy.

Qualifications

  • Pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD) from an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Pharmacist license in good standing in the State of Maine
  • Immunization Certification through an accredited organization
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to document in a clear, concise, and legal fashion with appropriate grammar and word usage
  • Ability to effectively communicate, verbally & in writing, with all levels of staff and patients
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with various members of health care teams, physicians, and staff
  • Ability to exercise sound professional judgement, set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergency requests
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule
  • Possess high standards for accuracy and for work performed
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and pharmacy software

Physical Requirements

  • Requires standing for prolonged periods of time with occasional walking short distances
  • Frequent/continuous reaching, grasping, lifting, and carrying up to 20 lbs. at or below waist level and at or above shoulder level
  • See objects at close vision and be able to identify and distinguish colors
  • Requires good motor coordination with good manual and finger dexterity. Must pick and pinch small tablets with fingers and seize, hold, grasp, and turn objects
