Job Summary: The major responsibility of the Pharmacy Technician is to support the Pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process by:
- Entering/maintaining patient profiles in the pharmacy information system (QS1)
- Entering new prescription information into the pharmacy information system for pharmacist verification
- Processing prescription refill requests
- Answering incoming phone calls
- Dealing directly with nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and group homes throughout Maine
- Filling prescriptions for pharmacist verification
- Assisting in maintaining pharmaceutical inventory
- Ordering medications, stock drug shelves, clean drug bay shelving, remove expiring medications from stock
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date prescription files
- Maintaining delivery receipts
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent with willingness to attend continuing education related to the position
- State of Maine Pharmacy Technician Registration (can be done after hire)
- Pharmacy Technician Certification (to be completed within one year of hire)
- Proficient general office skills (typing, computer, fax, filing, and multiple phone lines)
- Proficient in or ability to learn Outlook, Teams, DocuTrack, DocuSign, and QS1
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask in a stressful environment
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to focus with great attention to detail
- Ability to use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with customers and coworkers
- Ability to use general math skills to perform basic calculations
- Insurance billing knowledge preferred
- One to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting preferred
Physical Requirements
- The position requires standing 100% of the time and occasional walking of short distances
- Bending the wrists and use of the hands to grasp or pinch, handle or feel objects, and using keyboard and computer equipment is required 100% of the time
- Body movements of turning the head and torso, bending, reaching, lifting, moving, and carrying objects is required at least 50% of the time
- Bending at the knees and waist and lifting weight of 20 lbs. or more is required at least 50% of the time
Schedule: Direct Hire: 4 10-hour shifts, Mon-Fri, 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., with an hour unpaid lunch and two 15-minute paid breaks, and with weekend rotations every 2nd or 3rd weekend, 8:30 a.m - 1:30 p.m. When scheduled to work a weekend, you would have an additional day off during the week.
