As a pharmacy order entry technician, your job is to work in all areas of the pharmacy to fill prescriptions for customers. This involves understanding the medication and its uses, dispensing the medicine into the proper container, helping verify dosage and insurance information, contacting customers about refills, entering data into the records, and performing any other tasks needed. Pharmacy order entry technicians are also responsible for preparing backup orders, providing other employees with information about allergies and drug interactions, and directly assisting customers. You always work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and usually under a pharmacy manager.
