Senior Tax Specialist - Heavy Machinery

Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Indonesia is recruiting on behalf of the fastest-growing multinational company with a core focus on Heavy Machinery Industry. As expansion continues, our client is seeking a professional with at least 10 years' experience for the job of Senior Tax Specialist. The job is based in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement tax strategies and initiatives to optimize the company's tax position and minimize tax liabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements at the local, national, and international levels.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of tax laws, regulations, and rulings to ensure accurate interpretation and application.
  • Prepare and review complex tax returns, including income tax, VAT/GST, withholding tax, and other related filings.
  • Identify and evaluate tax risks and opportunities, providing recommendations to management on tax planning strategies and potential tax savings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as finance, legal, and operations, to gather relevant tax information and support business initiatives.
  • Coordinate and manage tax audits, inquiries, and disputes, including gathering supporting documentation and effectively communicating with tax authorities.
  • Stay up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations, providing timely updates and training to internal stakeholders as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and authorities to ensure effective tax compliance and reporting.
  • Assist with the preparation of transfer pricing documentation and ensure compliance with related regulations and guidelines.
  • Monitor and analyze tax-related risks and opportunities arising from business activities, acquisitions, and other transactions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. A Master's degree in taxation or relevant certification (e.g., CPA, CTA) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax compliance, planning, and advisory roles, preferably in a multinational company or public accounting firm.
  • Fluent in Mandarin, both written and spoken, to effectively communicate with stakeholders in international markets.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze complex tax laws, regulations, and rulings accurately.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing tax compliance, including preparing and reviewing tax returns and supporting documentation.
  • Excellent knowledge of local and international tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Highly analytical mindset with the ability to identify tax risks and opportunities and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Proactive and agile approach to adapt to changing tax regulations and business requirements.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external advisors, and tax authorities.
  • Proficiency in tax software, accounting systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Prior experience with transfer pricing and exposure to customs duties and indirect taxes is a plus.
